The
Welcom heritage Royal Camp
concept borrows from and expands
on the royal safari and 'shikar'
hunting camps of a bygone age.
The luxury tents, each with
verandah, bedroom and bathroom,
are custom made, using the
finest of Marwar traditional
skills and weaving in the best
of modern comforts. Delectable
Rajasthani cuisine is served in
a large dining tent and there is
a large open reception tent with
seating areas. With dusk comes
the campfire, around which
various performances indigenous
to the Thar desert take place -
be it music and dance or magic
or puppet shows, juggling, flame
throwing, camel parades…
The
Welcom Heritage Royal Camp at
Pushkar (Rajasthan, India) takes
place at the same time as the
famous Pushkar Horse and Camel
Fair and Festival of Brahma
which takes place in the weeks
preceding and culminating on the
day of the full moon in the
Hindu calendar month of Kartik,
that falls in October or
November. |

The
Shikar style Camp consists of a
large Mughal-style reception
tent, a recreation tent and
several kitchen and store tents.
The camp is located in a large
private site flanked by open
fields and hills and overlooks
the Mela ground, where most of
the fair activities and
festivities take place. The Mela
ground is within easy walking
distance and the town itself of
Pushkar can be approached on
foot or camel, through the Mela,
or by road transport. |
